Pediatric Cardiologist in Northern Virginia & Maryland

After graduating from medical school, and completing her pediatric residency in India, Dr. Nisha moved to the USA. She joined the University of Texas Health science Center, San Antonio for her pediatric residency, (2001-2004) and subsequently completed her pediatric Cardiology fellowship training at the University of Florida (2004-2007).

She moved to Tennessee as pediatric cardiology faculty at the University of Tennessee college of medicine campus, Chattanooga and continued her clinical practice there from 2007-2018. She mentored many medical students and residents during her tenure at the Children’s hospital, Erlanger Health System. Her residents have published pediatric cardiology research at local, state, and national meetings. She collaborated with the perinatal OB group and was instrumental in developing the maternal-fetal medicine program at UTCOM, Chattanooga. She also helped in the implementation of pulse oximetry screening through the Tennessee initiative for perinatal quality care. She served as Editor, PREP, pediatric Cardiology with the American Academy of Pediatrics from 2014-2017. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, Pediatric Cardiology, and is a fellow of AAP and ACC. She enjoys volunteering with the local AHA chapter during heart walks, jump rope for heart and congenital heart health awareness.

She moved to Knoxville in 2019 and is affiliated with East Tennessee Children’s hospital and the University of Tennessee medical center as a pediatric cardiologist. She is a preceptor for Physician Assistant students at South College, in Knoxville.

Her passion for pediatrics and pediatric Cardiology drives her to excellence in the field. She has been a speaker at grand rounds, CME lectures and continues to be a member of multiple organizations. Her interests and expertise are general pediatric Cardiology, sports and exercise physiology for the athlete, pulmonary hypertension in the newborn, and early fetal screening for congenital heart diseases.

She is an avid hiker, enjoys reading, traveling, and experiencing multiple cultures.
